The SATT Network, the federating association for SATTs (Sociétés d’Accélération du Transfert de Technologies, technology transfer acceleration companies) was founded to inject technologies generated by academic research into companies in France, and is now offering large groups and medium-sized companies a new tool designed to facilitate their open innovation processes. SANOFI and Spie Batignolles have already received full, comprehensive SATT Network support in this arena.
Industrial partners tackling the challenges of innovation
If they are to remain competitive and attractive, French companies will need to move away from what they know to become more agile and broaden their horizons. Faced with competition on a global scale and the dizzying array of technologies now available, actively seeking out technological opportunities is a crucial strategic tool for ensuring companies stay ahead of the game. Yet large groups and medium-sized companies can often lack the time, experience and knowledge required to be effective.
Bringing large groups and medium-sized companies the SATT Network’s unique expertise
The technology scouting service that the SATT Network has been offering since 2017 aims to facilitate this process and support companies through fine-tuning their technological solutions. The SATT Network provides them with the full extent of its expertise in academic innovation, giving them access to 70% of France’s public research data across all scientific fields and industry application sectors, as well as its inside-out knowledge of regional and national innovation ecosystems.
Highly promising feedback
In line with its strategy, Spie batignolles was seeking to accelerate open innovation within the Group. “We launched the technology scouting operation across the SATT Network in partnership with Bpifrance – Le Hub in February 2018. And we couldn’t be more pleased with the results! Two months after we first started working together, over 50 technologies have been put forward for our consideration, with in-depth presentations given for 14 of them. The fruitful discussions we had with the SATT experts also allowed us to foster innovation within Spie batignolles’ various entities,” said Angela Sulpizio, CSR Director at Spie batignolles. “Ultimately, we selected four technology solutions, for which we are currently working on securing contracts in order to take things to the next level.”
